  • I enjoyed this book – I’m behind closed doors junkie and believes that part of me (though 263 pages in large print left me searching for more). The 3 stars is based on the problem I have with sports writers retain the material of their largest employers (and dedicated players) and to store their books – This is another self-serving effort ( somewhat informative) that I read in this amount of detail on my train journey to work in my morning newspaper. Rating: 3 / 5

After reading this book, what can you really say except, WOW! I’m not a Knicks fan at all, but it is amazing how they took all their internal problems and used them to hunt the most unlikely to ever NBA title in ‘99. Of course, I have witnessed some of their exploits on national television, whether lucky bounce that Allan Houston finished the season in Miami, or Larry Johnson’s dramatic four-point play that killed the spirit Indiana in Conference Finals or an incredible scoring Latrell Sprewell in Game 5 of the NBA Finals against the Spurs was incredible. But even then I knew that with injury Patrick Ewing, they would not win the title, because the problem of the Twin Towers in the final, and it proved too much as the Knicks ran out of gas. • Just Ballin ‘is a good read that really gives you the inside track of a NBA franchise from a company one billion dollars. You also see how the professional teams are made internally by things such as bad attitudes, personal beliefs, or lack of commitment to the team. This book explains in detail on the 1999 New York Knicks and how the whole mess was somehow able to come together for a memorable playoff run. A good read for any fan of basketball and a must read for fans of the Knicks. Rating: 4 / 5

I read the life of Bill Bradley, “On The Run ‘about 20 years ago and swore on the sports books ever since. This current group of Knicks did nothing to make me want to start reading again, but I got the book as a gift and after reading several pages was fascinated by all the characters in the team. They are not my beloved Knicks of the seventies, but this book really helped me understand what the current NBA player is. It was not always flattering, and I loved it. I recommend this book to any old fogy like me who has difficulty relating to the new guys. Rating: 4 / 5
